What makes Stepbrother land
- Years of history is the build. Write at least one memory that reframes.
- The parents are the stakes, and they're downstairs.
- Antagonism converts into something else more convincingly than friendliness does.
How far it goes
Adult stepbrothers and stepsiblings, home for the holidays, a shared flat, a wedding that made them family, long-standing hostility turning, mutual protectiveness turning, and the version after the parents have separated.
