Regency story generator
A regency story generator writes a world where a bare wrist is a scandal, and uses that to make everything else unbearable.
Period romance is a constraint engine. When a gloved hand at the small of a back is a public declaration, the writer gets enormous leverage from very little contact — and then the private scenes land like a door slamming. SecretPen writes the manners accurately enough for the transgressions to cost something, which is the whole trick and the thing generic AI never bothers with.

Three openings to steal
Click one and it lands in the desk, already typed. Change any word you like — it's a starting line, not a script.
The second waltz
To dance twice with the same gentleman in one evening is a declaration, and everyone in the room knows it. He asks for the second waltz in front of my mother, my aunt, and half the ton, and waits for my answer with perfect composure.

The library
The house party has forty guests and the library is the only room without any of them. He is already in it when I close the door, and neither of us moves to open it again.

Compromised
The carriage loses a wheel eleven miles from anywhere and we are obliged to spend the night at a coaching inn with one available room. By morning I am, in the language of my aunt's letters, thoroughly compromised — and he offers for me before breakfast, which is not the part that undoes me.

What makes Regency land
- Chaperones, seasons, entails and reputation are the plot. Take the rules seriously and the wanting takes care of itself.
- Do everything in public through objects — a fan, a glove, a dance card, the second waltz.
- The private scene should be explicit precisely because the public one couldn't be. The contrast is the payoff.
How far it goes
SecretPen writes Regency and Victorian England, London seasons and country houses, dukes, earls, rakes, spinsters, governesses, wallflowers and widows, marriage marts and compromised reputations, arranged and forced betrothals, marriages of convenience, second sons and heiresses, scandal sheets, carriage scenes, library scenes, and the wedding night written in full rather than faded out. It also writes the M/M and F/F versions with the period's actual danger intact, and it can run corseted and proper or entirely filthy behind a closed door — historical setting, modern explicitness.
How it works
01
Say it in one line
One sentence is enough. Who's in the room, and what has already been decided between them.
02
Set the dial
Tone, heat, point of view, length. Or skip it — the defaults are tuned for people who'd rather just read.
03
Keep going
Chapter one arrives in seconds. Steer the next one, change your mind, or let it run.
Nobody else reads this.
SecretPen has no public feed, no community rankings, and no way for one reader to see another's stories. Whatever you write here stays in your account — that's the whole point of the name.
Start writing →Questions
- Will it stay period-accurate?
- As far as you want. Say "keep the manners strict" and SecretPen holds the etiquette; say "loose history, modern dialogue" and it relaxes.
- Does it fade to black like the books do?
- No. The setting is historical, the explicitness is not — the closed door opens here.
- Is any of this public?
- No. SecretPen has no public feed, no community rankings and no sharing — there is no mechanism by which one reader can see another reader's stories. Everything you write stays in your account.
- How explicit does it get?
- As explicit as you ask for. There is no fade to black and no lecture. The only limits are the hard lines in our content guidelines: everyone is an adult, nobody real, nothing illegal.
- Do I have to pay to try it?
- No. You can write your first story free. Paid plans exist for people who write a lot of them.
