What makes Degradation land
- Set the frame once, then commit. Hedging inside the scene kills it.
- Rhythm matters — degradation is closer to poetry than to insult. Repetition, escalation, a returning phrase.
- Break it once. A single soft word in the middle hits harder than the whole rest of the scene.

- Will it soften halfway through?
- Not if you frame it once at the start. Say "we negotiated this, don't break character" and SecretPen stays in it for the full scene.
- Can I mix degradation and praise?
- Yes, and the whiplash is the point. Ask for "degradation the whole way, then one kind sentence at the end" — that structure undoes people faster than either register alone.
- Is any of this public?
- No. SecretPen has no public feed, no community rankings and no sharing — there is no mechanism by which one reader can see another reader's stories. Everything you write stays in your account.
- How explicit does it get?
